ABOUT

Yinxue Wang is a costume designer working across theatre, opera, and film, and also a concept artist and illustrator。 Her design approach is character-first and story-driven, using silhouette, color, and texture to support performance. She builds costumes from rigorous research and precise details that communicate character clearly on stage and on camera.

She received her MFA in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University in 2024. With prior fashion training at Donghua University and Tokyo Bunka Fashion College, she brings a strong foundation in tailoring, patternmaking, and hands-on construction to character-driven storytelling, with an ongoing interest in sustainable materials and creative reconceptions.

Recent credits include As Written (short film, dir. Derek Tseng, 2025), where she collaborated closely with the director to build a clear visual language for the characters. Her stage work includes Armida (Pittsburgh Opera), Nine Shadows In Bloom (Chain Theatre), Of Ashes And Souls (The Flea), Antigone (A.R.T./New York Theatres), and 9MM (AMT Theater). She has also worked as a costume illustrator for Universal Studios Hollywood’s Entertainment Department (2024–2025).
